Under the direction of Prof. Suzanne Delport, Kalafong Hospital leads the breastfeeding movement for infant survival with an exclusively breastfed unit, that set's the golden standard in perinatal care. Prof. Delport was the first to prescribe DBM in Gauteng through SABR in 2006, and following her we now have a community of over 100 prescribing Neonatologists and Pediatricians. 

The Kalafong Hospital human milk bank was established in 2007/08 under the auspices of the Fuchs Foundation and has been independent of Private sector human milk since then. SABR supplies the human milk banking with the infrastructure necessary for sustained banking.

The  mother ship! Located in the heart of Johannesburg, we live to promote human  milk banking, we fund raise and point potential funders to public hospitals in need of support. From here we travel across the South African territory to deliver equipment, training, donated breastmilk and support! Our head office is a human milk bank as well as a distribution and procurement center. All logistic aspects of human milk banking are monitored on a 24 hour basis and we pride ourselves in offering a 24 hour assistance facility to infants in need. SABR has a permanent staff base of 11 employees of which 3 are at head office and 9 on site. We employ women in small positions designed to assist the cause in delivering the promised service as well as support women through financial empowerment. We are proud of our of team of Angels who take time out of their families and comfort to ensure that donated breastmilk keeps flowing healthy through NICUs. The Feed for Life Initiate has fed over 4000 infants over the past 5 years and the number are ever growiing
